🍗 Restaurant Secret to the Most Tender Meat

Have you ever eaten at a Chinese restaurant and wondered how they got their chicken or beef to be SO incredibly tender? There’s one super simple hack that’s a complete game changer!

It’s no secret that many sauces use cornstarch to thicken (which is part of why we’re using it!). BUT, if you coat your chicken in cornstarch and let it sit for a few minutes, it acts as a tenderizer as well.

  • Add the chicken cook until about 90% done. They should have nice browning but still spring back, instead of being firm like when they're fully cooked.
  • Pour in the sauce mixture and cook for about 3 – 5 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and the sauce has reduced to a thick sauce.
  • Turn off the heat and finish with sesame oil, sesame seeds, and green onions, if desired. Enjoy!
